It's official. Theo is sick way too much. I broke down and took him to the vet this morning and she recognized him as the puffy faced dog from a couple weeks ago. Ack!
As you can probably guess, I took him to get his foot checked out. The bump was getting better, but not fast enough and there was a little bit of clear puss that was coming out when I squeezed it, not to mention it was still bothering Theo. It wasn't anything to really be alarmed about, but I'm glad I took him in. I was paranoid that there was a stinger or something stuck in there that was going to eventually fester. There wasn't, but the vet said that infections, even minor ones, on a dog's pads should be taken seriously. Apparently they don't get as much blood flow to their pads, so things are slow to heal, and if the infection spreads to the pads themselves it can get very serious. So she prescribed him an antibiotic to kill the infection quickly, just to be safe. Interesting stuff, eh?
Hopefully by the end of the weekend this little problem will be fully cleared up. And hopefully Theo won't need to go back to the vet until March for his next immunization!
PS: Have you noticed the new "followers" feature in Blogger? You can now follow blogs, basically like Google Reader (it links to Reader and you can import your list), and add a gadget to your blog to track who is following you. Check out the panel to the right to follow my blog! I don't want it to read zero for too long. :(
St. Patty's Day Feast

I can't believe how long it's taken me to blog about the food I made during
the week of St. Patty's Day! I made such good things that week and such
good...

Huh, that's really interesting. Good to know about the dog pads, thanks!
I'm going to look into this follower thing... I saw something about it on my google reader, but it didn't really seem interesting at the time...
If you look at the "blogger buzz" on the dashboard, there's more information about it there. Nothing too interesting, but I like the addition. It's a good way to find new people. :)
Thanks for sharing your life with Theo. I have been a huge fan of your blog since getting our own corgi pup, Taco, 2 1/2 months ago. I've learned so much about puppy parenthood from you! :)
Aw, thanks so much! Taco, what a cute name. Hehe. He's adorable in your profile picture. I've never seen a Corgi in that position with their front paws by their tummy while all stretched out. That's one crazy pose! :)
Glad it's something they can diagnose and treat right away! I hear ya about the vet recognizing your dog... there's a time when it happened to us (when we first got Bryson), and one of the vet tech kept calling him "big boy"... (I don't know which is worse...)
The "follower" thing is really neat but as a typepad blogger, not as useful to me :( I'm really resenting having started with typepad now, seeing all the fancy cool stuff you guys get (and for FREE too!) Errr....
Yeah, I'm glad it was nothing serious. It's frustrating that they could have just used a topical to treat it, but since the boo-boo is on his front paw he would just lick it off.
Aww, well Bryson sure isn't a big boy now! He's a very good sized boy. :)
Yeah, at first it wouldn't let me add your blog as one I follow for some reason. I had to manually input it. Even if you can't track it in typepad, at least I can list it in my profile. :)
