My Butt Is Less Lazy

I finally uploaded new pictures of Theo! I say new, but some of these are from about 4 weeks ago, so you'll definitely see a size range in them. Hehe. He's gotten so big, but I think he's growing into his body beautifully. Now if only I could get a descent picture of him! I guess it's time to see how we'll I've taught him "stay".

Today someone asked me if he was a miniature Corgi. LOL! I wish there was a breed of Corgi that stayed this small and cute forever...of course, not if it means they have puppy energy all their lives! I'm growing old, fast here!

Also, in more Theo news, last night was the first night that he woke up in the middle of the night refreshed and ready to play. Well, technically Husband woke him up...at 4 in the morning, but after he was awakened, he wouldn't go back to sleep! He kept crying and barking and crying some more. Finally after I let him out of his crate, gently laid him down and told him to relax (which he didn't), and put him back in his crate, he fell back asleep (after 5 more minutes of crying). I hope this is an experience I won't repeat again at least until I have kids.

Theo is just so cute! I love his markings, I hadn't noticed until now that his white "collar" doesn't go all the way around on his right side, how cute is that! And that little pink spot on his nose, I just want to squeeze him and smooch that cute face :)

Someone asked me if there were miniature corgis too! How funny. Lucy has been waking up lately around 5:50, because last week I had to get up around that time. Usually if we ignore her she ends up going back to sleep... I was confused for a while because I knew that she could hold her pee through the night..

Hehe. Yes, his markings are just lovely, I think. His collar is so big it looks like a lion's mane! Hehe. I'll smooch his face for you!

Oh believe me, I try and ignore him for awhile, but when he's awake, he wants out. It usually ends up being about 7 or 8 hours between when I put him to bed and when he wakes up, so I can't really fault him for being up and wanting to pee.

Miniature corgi, ha ha! That would be too adorable!

It took Bryson a few months to get into our "rhythm" as well. When we first got him, he would get up around 6 a.m. every day, patrol around the house, lick his paws, dig around his bed, lick his paws again... until we wake up to walk him! But now he sleeps in just like the rest of us ;)

Yay! Oh crap. That means I have two weeks to make sure Theo is house trained and going to be on his best behavior. Mom is threatening to banish Theo to the garage if he doesn't behave, and they're both freak out if he pees in the house. The pee could get into the cracks of the hardwood! Oh no!!!

yeah, you best get on that right quick then.

Worse case, if Theo isn't fully house trained (for pee pee anyways), you can buy him a male doggie diaper - it works wonders (!!) and is about $22-24 at any local Petsmart or Petco. That will save him from the garage and may be good *just in case* in the car ride. It wraps around your little boy's lower mid section, covering his wee wee and closes up with a velcro strip over his back. For the "pads" you use inside the diaper, you can use women's monthly pads which are significantly cheaper than the (rip off) doggie versions at the pet stores. With my dog, I use Always regular size with wings and it has saved me many a times when I've gotten stuck at work! It's not a replacement for proper housebreaking but it can give you piece of mind, esp with wood floors. Also, Theo may housebreak in time at your house, but in a new environment, he could lapse and have a little accident. Diaper is just insurance against the garage. hehe

Lynn, "miniature corgis" would be just too cute! :-)

Hmm...I've heard of those. They're called "belly bands", right? Well that's a good idea in theory, but knowing Theo, he would probably tear it to shreds before he ever peed in it. Have you had that happen in your experience, S?

Yes, they're also called belly bands. My corgi hasn't torn it off yet. It's got a super wide strip of velcro so it's very difficult for a dog to get it off. I had a beagle before (crazy chewers) and used it on him too, and he left it alone.

I've been using them for a while and they work really well. (If you are into sewing you can make your own for MUCH cheaper....)
