Officer Theodore

If you watch Theo play with other dogs you pretty much get the sense that he's like the bossy kid on the playground who tries to tell all the other kids what to do. One on one he plays normally, but when there's a group playing together he usually circles around the outside of the crowd and barks a lot. I know it's just his herding nature coming out, but I like to say he's policing them.

So when I saw this costume on the Petco website, it was love at first sight.

Say hello to Theo's Halloween costume! At least, this is the one I would like if they have it. I am so excited for Theo's first Halloween! I wish it were October already!

Update: After I posted this I had discussions with my friend Scot and my sister about this outfit and they both agreed that were this a human costume, it would look like something a stripper would wear. After a couple of hours, I came back to the picture and the first thing I thought of was...stripper! Arg! Apparently for Halloween Theo is going to be a slut*.

* That's not to say all strippers are sluts. Hey some girls just like dancing and lots of easy money. But that's the connotation that comes with wearing a vinyl police uniform.

I know! I'm so excited! I think I might try and make a trip down to Petco this weekend so I can make sure to get one when they're in stock.

Hehe, are you kidding? I'll post so many pictures you'll be sick of looking at them! Hehe. I think between the dog costumes and my pattern to make felted pumpkins, Halloween just got a whole lot more fun. :)

How is Theo's foot doing?

I have photos of Lulu in a frog hat. She was not pleased.

Theo's foot is doing better. It's still bothering him a little, but clearly not as much as it was. I'm thinking bee sting maybe? Or a bite? Husband thinks maybe that's the bite that caused him to swell, but I'm not sure. That was like 2 weeks ago now.

That's so hilarious! Can't wait to see him in his new costume, too bad Halloween is still over a month away.

Philip once stepped on a bee, he limped right away so I looked at his foot and sure enough - I saw a stinger right in his pad. I pulled it out and he was back to normal the next day, but I bet if Theo got stung and you didn't notice, the stinger could have inflamed the area, so it could very well be what happened. Great to hear it seems to be healing up on its own!

Do you trim the hair between his toes? It really helps in keeping their feet cleaner.

hmmmm....

The stripper-esque quality may be from the shiny vinyl look....

How about this one?

eikoleigh, haha. Cute. But I have to look at all costumes from a Corgi's perspective. See how it goes on like a shirt? See how it has those nice long sleeves to fit a tall dog like a lab? Yeah, Theo would wiggle right out of it. The sleeves would almost go down to the ground on him. I like how the one from Petco has a strap along the belly to fit. Thanks for the suggestion though! It's ok, I like the stripper Theo outfit. ;)

Philip's owner, I've not heard that about trimming the fur on his feet. I mean, I've heard that you can, just not the reasoning for it. That makes sense! I think I'll do that!

I just don't know about it. It got better, but then it stopped. It's not getting worse, it's just kind of looked the same the last few days. I think I'll call the vet.
